Rihanna reacts online to partner ASAP Rocky's acquittal

NEW YORK — Rihanna has shared with fans her relief over the resolution of ASAP Rocky’s recent legal proceedings.
Rocky, whose legal name is Rakim Mayers, flung himself into the arms of his longtime partner after jurors delivered his not guilty verdict on Tuesday. He’d been facing two felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon, stemming from an altercation with his former friend, Terell Ephron — known as ASAP Relli — near a Hollywood hotel in 2021.
“The Glory belongs to God and God alone,” she wrote on her Instagram stories. “THANKFUL, HUMBLED BY HIS MERCY!”
Rocky’s acquittal followed a three-week trial in a Los Angeles courtroom, which was often packed with his friends, family and fans for most of the proceedings.
He also took to social media to celebrate, writing: “DON’T BE DUMB,” a seeming reference to his anticipated album of the same name. It was initially slated to be released in August 2024, but was ultimately delayed.
Had the three-time Grammy nominee been convicted, he faced up to 24 years in prison, meaning he could have been behind bars until he reached his 60s.
“Thank y’all for saving my life,” he told jurors as they exited the courtroom.
Rihanna and Rocky first confirmed their romance in 2020 following nearly a decade of close friendship. They went on to welcome their first child — RZA, who is now 2 — in 2022 and Rihanna revealed they were expecting their second child — Riot, now 1 year old — during her performance at the 2023 Super Bowl halftime show
