Appetizing Opposition

Holiday Mathis on

The reversal of Saturn and an opposition of the sun to Uranus in the sign of appetite throws a spotlight on hunger. Cravings may focus on something other than that which can satisfy them. The true need here is immaterial. "Trying to be happy by accumulating possessions is like trying to satisfy hunger by taping sandwiches all over your body." -- Roger Corless

ARIES (March 21-April 19). You'll try not to make assumptions, but if you do make them, you'll strive to connect the dots in a way that supports instead of condemns. The picture that forms will be a soft thought to land on.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20). When you're teaching, things take at least twice as long as they would if you did it on your own but will give you much more than twice the support in the end, not to mention the pride of having passed on the skill. Their success will be yours.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21). Some know their appetites and will ask for more without hesitation. You, on the other hand, are concerned with the bigger picture and will weigh your own hunger against the supply, the cost and the others who might need it more.

CANCER (June 22-July 22). You don't like to feel you're being advanced upon, but then again, it can be hard to judge a person's level of interest until assertive energy is being expended on you. The boundaries you set are your key to comfort.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). You can never totally know how others are experiencing you because feedback is tempered by social expectation and may be far removed from what you stir in another. Still, you'll get the sense of achieving the intended effect.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). You've been reticent to try to get what you deserve because you feel it's better to have a little of something than a lot of nothing. What if you knew you couldn't exhaust your options? There's far more of what you need than you think.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). Absorb your surroundings fully, observe acutely, seek an understanding of how things fit together and how they work. The more you are present to your experience, the better it gets.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). If you're unsure of your place in the group, just know that most people feel this way. It is in no way an indication of how you're being received. And anyway, it's not important to fit in completely, rather, strive for a solid sense of give and take.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). People close their eyes as a reflex to avoid what their brain believes they may find difficult to process. The heart does something similar. You're ready to see; open your eyes. You're ready to love; open your heart.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). Test-taking is a skill worth honing. Without the skill, the knowledgeable can get nervous and do badly, and with the skill the unknowledgeable can stay cool and have an instinct for choosing correct answers.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). It's not a day for making guesses, even educated ones. Rather, gather all the data you can. Reasoning will produce spectacular results. Don't draw a conclusion until you've added up the facts.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). You listen carefully. "That's interesting," you say, "I hadn't thought of it that way." Next comes your big decision. Do you share your thoughts, too, or do you, realizing how far apart you are, mosey along?

TODAY'S BIRTHDAY (Nov. 16). You'll wish widely and wildly and then narrow your options to one meaningful purpose. You'll become like the one you've long admired in the attainment of a symbol of accomplishment. More highlights: Fun new plot twists and growth in your family tree. A whimsical investment brings quick money and long-term benefits. Bright and novel work contributions lead to advancement. Pisces and Aquarius adore you. Your lucky numbers are: 8, 13, 39, 20 and 16.

CELEBRITY PROFILES: Raw honesty, emotional depth and a fearless approach to both comedy and life are the Scorpio qualities Pete Davidson brings to the set. Humor that gets personal about his mental health struggles and relationships give authenticity that audiences connect with. His film "The King of Staten Island," loosely based on his own life, showcases his ability to turn pain into art. Davidson has five luminaries in Scorpio, the sign of transformation.
