Leigh Rubin

Cartoonist Leigh Rubin is a true self-starter, deciding to become a greeting card illustrator in 1978 and establishing his own publishing company one year later. By 1984, Rubin had started "Rubes," his now popular single-panel comic, and published his first collection in 1988. Rubin was originally self-syndicated, but today his work appears in more than 400 newspapers nationwide, as well as airline magazines such as "United Express" and major papers like the Houston Chronicle and Orange County Register.

Rubin is still connected to his roots, with greeting cards appearing in gift shops everywhere. In addition to his continued comic strip work and books like his "The Wild Life of ..." series, he runs cartooning workshops at schools and professional organizations across the United States.
